PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT: Tony Traguardo takes you 'Back to the Garden'!

Tony Traguardo celebrates the ‘Woodstock Music & Art Fair’ with a program based, in part, on legendary New York disc jockey and author Pete Fornatale’s book ‘The Story of Woodstock: Back to the Garden’. This multimedia event outlines the events that led to, and occurred during, the weekend when over a half a million people gathered in upstate New York for the now legendary concert festival that has come to be known simply as “Woodstock”. For America’s counter-culture youth, Woodstock became a symbol of more than just sex, drugs and rock and roll – it was a huge declaration and celebration of peace, love, and a new way of living. Tony and Pete first toured with a version of this program, then hosted by Pete, in 2009. The newly-revised version of the program contains even more rare audio and video footage from the festival, as well as sound clips from media broadcasts about the event.
PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT: The Music of 1969
The popular music charts of 1969 reflected the diversity of the times. Rock, Soul, Rhythm & Blues, Pop, Vocal Music, Motown, Gospel, Easy Listening, a new sound called ‘Bubble Gum’ and … of course ... The Beatles all shared equal time on the radio, becoming an important part of our (ever expanding!) musical and social consciousness. Bob Dylan had a 'new' voice, Elvis was back, 'Hair' was a smash hit musical, and TV variety shows were scrambling to book the latest musical sensations. Fortunately, Tony Traguardo has collected performances from the era of some of the year’s top songs for a fun and insightful presentation of ‘The Music of 1969: Fifty Years On’. |
