SoundShare ... Sharing Great Moments in Pop Music History
"SoundShare" began in response to the fact that libraries and educational institutions tend to focus on book discussion groups. While that certainly makes for enjoyable and popular programs, there are many people who have been as affected - and possibly even more affected - by an album or a recording artist, than they have by a book or author.
Tony Traguardo has been collecting, analyzing, and archiving rock and pop music audio and video for over 35 years. In the 1990s he had a regular music column in a respected European collectors' magazine, where he eventually served as U.S. editor. And artists ranging from Joey Ramone to Graham Nash have shared their thoughts with Tony during ground-breaking interviews. He brings this knowledge of rock and roll, along with his love and passion for the genre, to all of his programs and events.
Tony's unique multimedia presentations give audiences a rare glimpse inside the world of popular music's best-loved performers and composers.
Mr. Traguardo says, "We've gotten to a place where the folks who remember the great music made in the 1960s and 1970s have no way to learn more about the songs that they love, and the artists who wrote them ... beyond what they find on Wikipedia. And the Internet seems to offer more misinformation and myths than facts. Radio is really of no help. And music on television has not been the same since the early days of MTV."
SoundShare audiences will be delighted to learn about how famous bands achieved stardom, to hear what famous songs sounded like in their raw forms, or to see what their favorite artists looked like in performance two, three or four decades ago. These elements are all part of an incredible evening of music and history with Tony Traguardo.
Currently, Tony's two most popular programs are:
"BACK TO THE GARDEN”: THE STORY OF WOODSTOCK
"Back to the Garden: The Story of Woodstock" is a presentation that separates myth from reality and fiction from fact through anecdotes, film clips, and segments from Pete Fornatale’s 2009 book of the same name. Mr. Traguardo co-produced the original version of this program with the legendary New York disc Jockey and author, who passed away in 2012. The goal is to celebrate the music and spirit of Woodstock through the words of some of the biggest musical stars of the period, as well as through a diverse collection photos and clips.
THE MUSIC OF 1969: FIFTY YEARS ON
The popular music charts of 1969 reflected the diversity of the times. Rock, Soul, Rhythm & Blues, Pop, Vocal Music, Motown, Gospel, Easy Listening, a new sound called ‘Bubble Gum’ and … of course ... The Beatles all shared equal time on the radio, becoming an important part of our (ever expanding!) musical and social consciousness. Bob Dylan had a 'new' voice, Elvis was back, 'Hair' was a smash hit musical, and TV variety shows were scrambling to book the latest musical sensations. Fortunately, Tony Traguardo has collected performances from the era of some of the year’s top songs for a fun and insightful presentation of ‘The Music of 1969: Fifty Years On’.
